The Perfect High-Waisted Denim Shorts
My middle school self would be so proud right now. Anyone else go through the phase where the highlight of your year was school shopping at Abercrombie & Fitch? Well, I’ve always been super short, so I actually had to stay in the kid’s section and only shop Abercrombie for much longer than I wanted. But I still remember when I finally got big enough to shop the adult’s section and I felt like the coolest kid on the block.
However, my high school self would be terribly embarrassed. It was like a light switch, one year I only wanted to wear A&F, then the next I became a “wanna-be scene-kid” that only wore Vans and Pacsun. Identity crisis? I think so. But isn’t that what your teenage years are all about?
Well, here I am at the ripe age of 26 and I found myself smelling way too much of that Fierce cologne trying to find the perfect pair of high-waisted denim shorts for our trip to Mexico. I had seen another blogger wearing these super cute shorts and when I found out they were from Abercrombie, I was like, “ew”, then I realized I need to stop being so prematurely judgy and just try them out. When you need shorts in a pinch, you do what you gotta do.
Now, I come to you on my blogging platform to share with you I’m in LOVE with these shorts. I actually was dreading to tell people where I found these gems, then realized, girl, you’re waaaay too old to care anymore where your clothes are from. Plus, when something is good you don’t question it.
Okay, so here’s what I love about these shorts:
Super High-waisted (everything is tucked away and you can wear a bikini underneath and run around eating ice-cream without worrying)
The color — they remind me of a pair of vintage Levi’s I had my eyes on but couldn’t convince myself they were worth the $100 asking price
Speaking of price — the price! I purchased mine when they had 50% off, so only paid $30 for them, but right now they have BOGO 50%, which still makes them under $50, if you buy two pairs (also if you sign up for emails you receive an additional $10 off — so just subscribe, then unsubscribe)
They come in different lengths depending on what you like (here’s the longer version)
The midi version is definitely short, so if you have long legs I would recommend the “mid-length”, but if you’re looking for a pair of shorts to throw on over a bikini and for those beachy days, I would go with the shorter ones. Sizing seems fairly true to size, I went with a size 25 (again, I’m short), but thinking I could have gone to my normal size of a 26 for a little more wiggle room. If I purchased the mid length I would go down a size though.
Let me know if you guys have any recommendations on denim shorts! I feel like they are just a summer staple.
