French Elegance & Decadence at its Best: Hotel De Jobo
When I arrived to Hotel De Jobo I could hardly pay attention to the kind front desk attendant greeting me by name. Rather, I was so distracted and interested in all of the colors jumping at me, the patterns filling each and every wall, and the insanely romantic details surrounding me in all directions.
Hotel De Jobo is a creative work of art, not simply a hotel. The design is like one I have never seen and being in this marvelous space made me feel like I was in Paris during the post-revolutionary period and should be dancing through the entrance with a cigarette in hand. Too many adjectives come to mind when trying to describe Hotel De Jobo; decadent, ravishing, spectacular, rich, flamboyant, magnificent, and so lovely.
CN Traveler described Hotel De Jobo as "...intense but delightful - it's too witty, too thoughtfully executed to be oppressive." I couldn't agree more with this description. The hotel is small, with only 24 rooms, and each room, although magnificent, is no bigger than 40 square meters. However, it was rather comfortable and inviting and I felt that I needed nothing more.
Conveniently located in le Marias neighborhood, a historic and centrally located area in Paris that spreads across both the 3rd and 4th arrondissements. Only 100 meters from the Saint-Paul le Marais station, it's easy to travel around and throughout Paris. Especially if you're interested in shopping, seeing the main sites, and other tourist destinations.
Like with many hotels, my stay at Hotel De Jobo was far too short, but one of the most memorable. If you're looking for a unique and ravishing experience while in Paris, I cannot recommend staying at Hotel De Jobo enough. You will not be disappointed and it'll provide the Parisian experience one should have while in this wildly romantic European city.
