Harz Mountains: A Dreamy, Winter Wonderland in Germany

Harz Mountains || Germany

The Harz Mountains are home to the largest mountain chain in Northern Germany.  Lucky for us, it's within our state and a very reasonable drive away.  When we moved to Germany, we were in shock as to how flat the area of the country we live in is.  Both Michael and I have grown up in towns with rolling hills, mountains nearby, and diverse landscapes.  The pro of this flat land is my mile time has gone down exponentially, but my runs are that much more dull.  Needless to say, we've been missing the Tennessee hills and Smoky Mountains quite a bit.

When we drove into this magical, winter wonderland of the Harz Mountains we had the biggest heart eyes.  The evergreen trees looked like majestic creatures; covered in fluffy, white snow and standing so tall.  Honestly, I could have simply stared at them all day and been content.  They were absolutely beautiful to see in person.

We arrived to the Harz Mountains in the evening and turned our car into a cozy, little tent. When we woke the next morning, we were surrounded by these majestic evergreens, snow in every direction, and beautiful morning sun light.

Wanted to share with you guys a photo gallery of our time here in the Harz Mountains.  If you're in Germany, I truly cannot recommend a visit to these mountains enough.  It's the most dreamy!
