1800s Heidelberg Hotel with Charm & Class

Europaischer Hof Heidelberg

When searching for a hotel in Heidelberg, Germany I knew I wanted to stay in a place that shared the magic and charm of the city.  Which, to be honest, is setting the bar pretty high, because Heidelberg is one the most charming cities I have visited yet.  Europäischer Hof Hotel was not only gorgeous, but also provided the historical charm I was looking for in a hotel.

Starting in 1865, Europäischer Hof Heidelberg has a rich and unique history.  Owned and operated as a family business, it is now in the hands of the 4th Generation of the Kretschmann family. They have done an incredible job of maintaining the class and history of the hotel.

Although this hotel is quite old, the amenities are far from that.  Newly renovated, Europäischer Hof had everything I needed and more for a comfortable stay.  The rooms are quite large, equipped with international television, large bath tub and bathroom, turn down service, and a cozy robe with slippers.

Each guest has access to the Spa & Fitness Center, which we used quite a bit during our stay. The Fitness Center overlooks Heidelberg and during my workout I had a great view of Heidelberg Castle.  The spa was one of my favorite aspects of the stay.  Natasha, one of the masseuses, was absolutely incredible. We booked one of her 60 minutes massages and it was pure bliss; I don't believe my body has felt that relaxed in a long time!

Next to the spa experience, would be the decedent dinner we had on our second night's stay. Words cannot begin to describe the delicious five course meal the Chef prepared for us during our stay at Europäsicher Hof.  Our dishes were paired with exceptional wines from Germany, Spain, Denmark, and France.  Each dish had its own unique flare and paired perfectly with the wines.  My personal favorite was the fresh scallops -- and the presentation was impeccable.

If you're in Heidelberg for only a few days, I would highly recommend having a fantastic meal at Europäischer Hof's restaurant on site.

The location of the hotel was great if you're planning on visiting the Old Town, touring Heidelberg Castle, and seeing a few of the main sites.  We were able to access by foot great shopping, the Farmer's Market, our day boat trip, and everything we needed from the hotel's location.

Heidelberg is an incredible city in Germany that is well worth a visit and Europäischer Hof only enhanced our time during this charming weekend away.  Thank you a thousand times to the Europäischer Hof team for making me feel welcomed, cared for, and providing a 5-star luxury experience.
